Why A Great CV Will Open Beauty Industry Doors

If you are a skilled nail technician who has done all the training, you could be set for a great career as a professional nail cutter, beautician, pedicure expert and more. But first, you must get your foot in the door.

Studying well and getting a certificate at the end of it is great and you can enjoy the sense of achievement, but remember that when you start going for jobs you won’t be the only one with such qualifications. That is where having a better CV than others will help.

It is vital, therefore, to take good tips on getting your CV to a high standard. Employment agency Reed, for example, offers six pieces of advice:

·       Make your personal statement relevant to the job and your career goals, using relevant examples to highlight how you have the skills the employer is seeking

·       Find a unique selling point - something (a skill or experience) you can offer that others cannot

·       Include keywords - terms that are relevant to the job title and the tasks and skills that it involves

·       Be proactive with descriptions, by using lots of good examples to highlight the skills that you have

·       Tailor your CV - this means not using a ‘one size fits all’ approach, but changing it for every job, so you are putting the greatest focus on the aspects that the employer is most interested in

·       Make sure you have the basics such as spelling, punctuation and grammar in good order

Other top tips include Indeed’s advice to use formal language, to be persuasive and even accept your limitations. In the latter case, you certainly shouldn’t make any exaggerated claims, as you will be found out and could be in trouble.

Not everyone is great at writing CVs, so if the task seems daunting, don’t be afraid to seek help from those who are skilled at writing them. It could help you get that dream job a whole lot sooner.
